The Arathee had long struggled to make a mark on their mountain home, building cities and roads out of stone. While shaping and placing stone had challenges of its own, the sharp cliffs and ravenes often forced roads to wind around much longer routes.
With the advent of arched bridges ravenes could be crossed, and stepped roads made slopes far more manageable for man and beast alike. While small improvements and expansions continued, the great era of construction had largely come to a close.
When visiting with Vraichem, many Arathee noted that despite much flatter ground, Vraichem roads were lacking in comparison to Arathee roads, and they lacked bridges entirely.
As both a gesture of goodwill and as a means to continue to develop the skills of Arathee architects, the Chief of the Iolar contacted the Jarl of [The city of smiths], and made an offer: if the Jarl would supply the manpower and resources to build roads, the Arathee would supply skilled aritechs and Mason's to plan the routes and teach skills to the workers.
