Thoughts on Dave talking about the recession forecasts?

I think it was hour 1 or 2 of 8/20/19, Dave did a mini rant about the recession predictions. I'm not super knowledgeable in economic forecasting but what he said seems pretty legit. However, I got a good bit of backlash on it when I brought up in a convo. Is what he said true? mostly true? not true? Other input?
