At the end of my first month of budgeting and paying off $1,600 in debt today!
Post Body

My wife and I got married in the fall of 2015 and took FPU right afterwards. We didn’t start applying Dave’s principles or budgeting until April 1st this year, and in just one month our entire outlook has changed!

After budgeting every dollar on excel and filling envelopes with cash, we sold items to fund our $1,000 emergency fund and gave a conservative budget to every aspect of our life. With a monthly net income of $5,600, we budgeted to save $1,050 in addition to our minimum payments and put it towards our $14k in car/credit card debt. At the end of April we took all our leftover money we had budgeted that we didn’t spend, and were able to add that to our debt payoff to put $1,600 towards our credit card today!

Even in one month, we are not on rice-and-beans, but we are just intentional with our money and adhere to the budget 100%. The knowledge that WE DO HAVE ENOUGH and will actually be able to be debt free this year has released a ton of weight off of our shoulders and has encouraged my wife and I to do better with our money.
