This story is not mine, it's my friend's. So here it goes...

My friend had just escaped an abusive relationship and wasnā€™t looking for anything new. She was back in college and working at a department store. There was this guy, a technician who came in twice a week. Her boss kept mentioning how Bob would ask what shift she was working, and heā€™d always show up when she was on break or even at the cafe. He was friendly, and they became friends. Eventually, he started asking her out for dinner after work. Interestingly, he met her mom at another store on his route, and her mom kept saying how great he was. He even showed up when her cousin and she went dancing.

He started calling her every day, but they were still just friends. Then he invited her to be his date to a family wedding, saying it was a fancy event and sheā€™d need to wear a formal gown. He kept asking her what she was going to wear, which felt a bit odd since most guys wouldnā€™t care. He said heā€™d be wearing a tux and thought it would be fun if they matched, like with his tie and her dress.

Then, he invited her over to his place for dinner. He cooked an amazing gourmet meal with wine and candles, and it was honestly really romantic. After dinner, they went into the living room, and she kicked off her shoes. Thatā€™s when he told her something shocking, he said the wedding was actually his, and he needed her to be his date. His ā€œbrideā€ was his housekeeper, and it was a visa wedding. Her parents had turned it into a huge affair, with relatives flying in from Europe. He said he didnā€™t have feelings for her but still wanted her to be his date and wanted to date her seriously.

My friend was completely stunned and couldnā€™t even respond. When she tried to grab her purse, it spilled everywhere, her shoes got knocked around, and she could only find one. Her car keys were under the sofa, and she was crawling around, trying to breathe. She was so freaked out, she just wanted to leave. How could he think sheā€™d want to be involved in such a mess? She ran out of there with just one shoe, and from that day one she never heard from him again.
