After a very long relationship (25 yrs) I've entered back into the dating scene. What a culture shock lol. Anyways, I started dating again back in March and have come across so many scammers on every app I've used so far.

So I would like to start a list of common Red Flags, for everyone who is out here trying to find their match. Please speak up and add to the list!

🚩 🚩 🚩

PHONE BROKE: this one is so tired, but I just had it used again yesterday 😅 . These guys tend to like to draw it out. Longest for me when I started dating was three weeks. This person had me convinced they were real, and I came so close to buying it a phone out of sympathy. Google the street address, looked up who lived there and... yeah scammer

Common excuses. Can't use mic. Dropped it in water can text but not call. Oh and will vid chat for 3 seconds, pointing their camera at a different screen.

🚩 🚩 🚩

GAS MONEY: I can come meet you, can you help with gas though. I'm broke. Offer to drive out and meet them.. ummm I live with my *random relative. Tons of excuses on why they must come to you.

🚩🚩🚩

GRANDMA'S SICK: yeah I know.. kinda obvious, but yes this one is common. Usually 2 to 3days into conversation, then they need money for medicine.

🚩 🚩 🚩

THE CHINESE INVESTORS: (this one got me banned from tinder, as I was so irritated with them that I started wasting their time.. leading them on to think I was going to download their app. Leading to me outing them. (I've gotten death threats from these scum) lol

This scam for me personally is one of the dirtiest. Most people in the Asian community I have met are amazing, and great people, these scammers are not. They are organized, work in teams, and have scripts they follow most of the time.

The conversation starts with something good, something in common, or peaks their interest. But after four or so days you get the *I have an uncle that is teaching me finance and how to invest. Usually pushing for the person to invest in digital currency. This one is so thought out and planned, it seems as if it was sponsored by some larger organization. So anything with finance, be very wary!

🚩 🚩 🚩

DO YOU HAVE WHATSAPP/HANGOUTS: This is common. You are already on a dating app, why switch? This is to keep their devices from being banned. It is common to meet someone, switch over to Whatsapp, then see they have immediately deleted their dating profile.

🚩 🚩 🚩

THE DEPLOYED SOLDIER: Another completely slimy scam. I've found these ones to want to use Google hangouts more often. Most of the time their English is spot on and they can be very convincing. There's a group of these guys out of the LA area in California. This one I'm sure gets so many people. As a Veteran who also grew up military, I am able to catch them. However, there was one time I even caught myself falling for their lies.. these guys are good.

I'll add more later if you guys think this may be a useful topic. Just hope it saves people heartache, and headaches lol.
