42/M/Everett and I’ve been laid off for a month now. While I’m highly employable and no drug/anger/booze/psych issues, I’m taking a sabbatical until November because the last three years have been brutal. I canceled all my OLD memberships because I am a firm believer that a man shouldn’t date while he’s unemployed. However, I’m willing to concede I may be wrong about that—but I don’t want to waste the time of any woman who’s employed. So... should I stick to my guns and not date until I’m established again with a job? And, where should I go to look for single women who are unemployed if it’s okay to date again? I’d rather spend time with someone who’s also in my situation, than endure snide commentary about being a shrub mooching off a woman (I have my pride).
