I've been scraping photos from Georgia Department of Transportation cameras for almost a year now.
Quick origin of the project: I was helping someone after a hit-and-run accident on the interstate, and they thought they could use the nearby traffic camera to possibly find the car that hit them. That's when I found out that the cameras only snap a picture every 15 minutes or so, and, even worse, just overwrite the file so there was no real historical record. So I made a Python script that collects them every few minutes.
Collected over 4.77 million photos to date. Directory is at https://gdot.nathandharris.com
For a while, I've been meaning to make some sort of slideshow page for easily flipping through the photos. So finally, today I did. Very novice at PHP and rusty on JavaScript, but some Google Fu and a few StackOverflow threads later, and I got it done, and I'm quite proud of it.
