Seagate 2.5" SMR
Post Body

Of the 4TB variety the ST4000LM016 is the best to purchase if you are in the market.

I have one like this and is my oldest drive of the bunch if 2.5"s I have. Its non SMR and I believe the best value and resilient. Still going strong at 20k hours with plenty of TBs written to it.

I have 3 other 2.5", ST4000LM024.

I can confirm they are shit with about 15k hours of usage I just have 2 day a week from each other with in the last 2 weeks. No SMART warning no odd behavior just 1 or 2 random unmount events. then bam nothing, won't spin up. Got all the drives from completely random places so nothing about batches other than 2 of my 3 SMRs were shucked from the Green XBOX portable drive enclosures.

All were weeks or months a part in different states.

So yeah Be wary of your 2.5" SMR drives from senate and keep them for cold storage.
