Natural evolution of storage : looking into LTO
Post Body

Looking for a sense of direction.

I have begun looking into tape.

Specifically LTO-4 & 5. Recently seen a some availability of a collective 8-15TB in a pack of 5 for what costs a 4TB hard drive.

My issue is after looking into tape drives is the multitude of models and connections types.

I’m in need of a starting point

I’m looking for an LTO 4/5 drive that will fit in a single 5.25” bay. SATA (if possible) is preferable. I have a SAS connection available internally.

I simply don’t know what model(s) to look for. I only have (1) 5.25” bay so full height or anything extremely long won’t help.

Thanks for any info or direction you can provide.
