How good is a 2 drive array? What's a good setup for a beginner data hoarder?

Post Body

I'm thinking of starting with two 4TB HDD drives in a raid one array. My pc has two drive bays and my motherboard supports raid.

I may eventually put those drives in a 4-drive NAS, but I'd have to buy a 200 something NAS and spend another 100 or so dollars on the other two drives.

How good would a two drive array be?

Comments

Personally, I won't bother with RAID for this specific setup. I'd rather setup drive 1 as the main data drive and then drive 2 as a backup drive, preferably with versioning if I have enough space to spare. :)
