So I’ve gone down a rabbit hole of developer film combinations that I realize may just be a waste of time, but one thing I saw was someone complaining that Xtol gave them flat midtones with something like HP5, even with over development. Is there truth in that, does Xtol not really respond to over development, or is that person blowing smoke? I’m concerned just cause I plan to do alternative prints and needing to overdevelop to get high contrast is important for that, and I don’t want to waste time with a developer that doesn’t respond well to that.
