game keeps crashing right after I step out of the elevator and go into the water in sinners rise

So I just got ds2 on pc SOTFS to be exact after beating it on xbox a while baclk. Im in Sinners rise at the bonefire. I go down the elevator as I usually would and prepare to be swarmed by the bs flexile sentry as I sprint for dear life through the area to get to the boss. I get off the elevator and procede to step into the water about 3 feet just about when the game is probably starting to really render the area and boom Im on my steam page. Please help Dark Souls 3 is looking really tempting right now.
