Quick little tidbit I was wondering if anyone else noticed
I think that in DkS2 the fires havent been fading for intirely too long. I have a big theory about the world of Dark Souls 3 starting after having been in an Age of Dark for some years (Please check out the post, its a doosy https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/6t1dd4/lore_letting_the_fires_fade_iudex_gundyr_prince/ ) , which is why the world has so much ash, extremely skinny hollowed inhabitants, and overall decay and even natural enemies look weathered.
Thats a huge jump from 2, seeing as there doesnt seem to be a shortage of normal undead, hollows usually still don nicely maintained armour, the overall lively vibe of nature, and most importantly the embers blowing through the air (Remember DkS1 intro "Even now, there are only embers" which was completely void in DkS3 unless near a real flame
I dunno, I like to think 3 starts nearly immediately after the Age of Dark was reverted, Dark Souls 1 maybe 200-300 years after the flame weakened, and Dark Souls 2 only about 40-50 years
Im not far in DkS2 at all! So dont take my word for anything, but my article on 3 is pretty legit.
