I've tried searching for the information but have found nothing relating to my actual question. In DS1 if you left and were half way to rank 2, you'd lose the progress and have to give more stuffs.

I do not want to lose my progress with the bell keepers ESPECIALLY bc im farming the yautja lols but id like to also make progress on yhe abyss Covenant!

I do have questions about the pilgrims of the dark too actually! If I was to complete level 1 and then go farming the yautja would I have to do level 1 again? I was under the impression that you finish one level, and then go to the next but if you die you have to go back one level. But once you get to the darklurker you just go back to level 3 and have to make a boss run again?

Rn i am going after the crowns and saving my effigies for the abyss stuffs. I want to do the abyss before NG , the bell keepers are much less important in that regard imo.

(I'm going for 100% achievements and I enjoy collecting/doing everything anyways)
