I’ve only seen the Father of the Bride movies a few times. And I’ve been sitting here, half-watching Father’s Little Dividend, and every time the mother speaks, I tell myself, “That voice sounds so familiar!” but I’m still not recognizing her.

And then, in one scene where she’s speaking and there’s a side profile, I finally place her!!!

Up until now, I really knew nothing of Joan Bennett’s career. I (thought I) first discovered her through Dark Shadows and was always a little curious about what her career had been like before role of Mrs. Stoddard but never took the time to actually research. So, this was really fun to come across.

Her voice is unmistakable!
