I’m still on season one but I’ve labeled this as a spoiler in case anyone hasn’t gotten past the first few episodes…

What a delightful series! I do enjoy sci-fi. I’m a huge fan of the anthology, The Twilight Zone.

I was actually put off by a snippets from a few of the color episodes of Dark Shadows I caught on Pluto. The acting was kind of bad and the melodrama was confusing to me. However, I do think I understand that this is a horror melodrama (never knew a soap opera horror show existed in American television! It’s an odd and kitsch-y combination of genres).

The most interesting part of the first season for me has been Willie Loomis’ return!!! Now here, the acting is incredible! This actor going through the motions of pain, weakness, fatigue, fear. I haven’t been this captivated by an actor in a long time.

I really enjoyed this part of the story where Willie’s friend is so confused about the change in Willie’s attitude after Willie becomes zombified (is that the correct word for what’s happened to Willie!?!??).

Just like a soap opera, the episodes can be a bit slow, the scenes drag on a bit. Some of the characters aren’t interesting at all. Maybe they are just there to develop the story. Either way, I want to continue watching.

I want to see how Barnabas’s character develops. He’s not an entirely loathsome character (at least, not in the first season… aside from the fact that he forces Willie to go out and get animal blood for him… at least, that’s what I assume Willie does). Does Barnabas ever become even somewhat likable down the line?

Okay. Say no more then that! I’m only on episode 19 of the first season!!! 😄😄😄
