So, IF Supermassive is making a scream game, hereâs the things I would LOVE for this game to have. (Please Devs listen I know yall are lurking here)
A âLAST SEEN HEREâ MAP
I really loved the Map in the Quarry, so I want them to recreate that Map in Scream. But, rather than being real-time location, it should be where the character was last seen, i.e. when you last played as them or last saw them. By doing that, we can start using that to piece together who the possible killer is. If Character A was attacked in the Dining hall, we can see who we last saw near that area. Which can be used for my next suggestion!
THE TRIALS OF GHOSTFACE
The characters should accuse the hell out of each other. We should have sessions in between big ghostface attacks to group the characters together and begin seeing the pieces of the puzzle. We should make cases against other characters using evidence, defend characters and create our very own alibi. We should go all donganronpa on this, basically.
- We should also get a record of major events, telling us the time and place of every ghostface attack and just a general record of what every character is doing with their time and place
WHO IS THE CURATOR
The Curator should be a Horror movie expert like Mindy and Randy. The Curator should go on long monologues about the doâs and donâtâs of a Horror movie, they should make everyone seem like the perfect candidate for being the killer, and should just generally scoff at you or praise you when you make your horror movie decisions. Also the Totems should be horror movie vhs tapes.
SMALLER CAST
letâs say the game is equal to the Quarry and Until Dawn in length, thatâs why this game would benefit so well with a smaller cast. The Quarry had so many characters, it felt lacking with others and too much screentime for some (Laura). I feel a lot of characters couldâve melded into one another, allowing for more playtime for each character. Thatâs why I suggest the game to have 6-7 characters, because I really, really, really want them to focus on more variation in playthroughs, WHICH goes into my next suggestion.
THE KILLERS SHOULD BE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS
Now, I think, the ULTIMATE reason that a SM Scream game would work is the opportunity of variation on who the killer is.
You have two options with this, either making the Killer a non-playable character OR really trying something new by making the possible killer a playable character. The latter sounds much more interesting to me than the former. The Movies always go out of their way to make it seem like everyone has a motive; we should make that aspect of the movies shine
This is how I think it should play out
- The Curator of this Game gives you questionsâlike the ones in Until Dawn. The answers you give impact who the Killer turns out to be. This, I feel, although ambitious, is perfect for a Scream game.
- Imperfect perspectives. What I mean by this, is that the Game should always leave a few gaps in a characterâs playtime so we never fully trust them. Letâs say Character A hides in the Kitchen at 9:15 pm. then we switch to Character Bâs pov at around 9:20 and give it a few minutes of playtime then have B get attacked by Ghostface. We donât know if during that time A was able to dress up and attack B, maybe yes, maybe no.
- And characters alone should never make it seem like theyâre innocent either. Like in Scream 5, Amber goes down to the Basement to get more beers but all the while the entire scene is made out to be that Amber was going to get attacked even though she was Ghostface all along. That is the type of fakeouts the Scream Game should strive for.
- There should be no one main character. There shouldnât be 1 main character, and THAT character has to be the good guy. They should make every character a possible killer and not pick favorites.
