I kinda think, coupled with all the other broken marriages, boyfriends, etc, that they were deeply hurt by their parents divorce and their fathers subsequent pursuit of young ladies. They saw their mom age in a normal (no work done way) and also saw their dad drop her like a hot potato and then date/marry/discard younger women. They have never seen the value in aging gracefully or even with just a little upkeep and, instead, have seen that "old" women get discarded. Of course, they should have developed deeper parts of themselves but I think losing their brother and daddy being a misogynist PLUS their own stuff caused this mentality.
