[Discussion] Formalizing Trespassing Rules in the DZF
Author Summary

Post Body

Track mentioned creating some standard rules - beyond our usual consensus practices - for trespassing in the DZF, so here's a shot. These are by no means set in stone, just a starting point for us to use.

Based on our experience, there are two types of trespassing we have experienced. I think each should be covered separately since they are different in nature and severity.

I. Minor Trespassing: Failure to Leave DZF Territory

  • Explanation - this covers individuals who were not previously barred from DZF territory, but who have been asked - and failed to comply - to leave as a result of their actions.

  • Procedure - a citizen of the DZF may ask someone acting as a nuisance or in a threatening way to leave DZF territory. They must be given three warnings which can be document via screenshots and reasonable time to comply before being in violation of the request. For example, I can't ask player X to leave NDZ three times in rapid succession and pearl them if they haven't left in 30 seconds.

  • Punishment - players violating this rule may be pearled within DZF territory. The DZF citizen that pearled them may decide to release them immediately outside of DZF territory, or they may be vaulted for a maximum of two days. (Minimum end time? Minimum fine? Is that max alright?). Players violating this rule should have their items returned to them when released, either by dropchest or in person. If the player disputes what was returned to them, it is their responsibility to provide evidence of what was on their person at the time of their pearling.

  • Review - there will be no formal review process for these incidents, but citizens of the DZF should be prepared to produce valid screenshots of the requests to leave and failure to comply, for external distribution.

II. Major Trespassing: Violating a Ban from DZF Territory

  • Explanation - this covers individuals who were previously banned from DZF territory and have violated that order.

  • Procedure - in order to ban a player from DZF territory, the action must be approved by popular consensus within the DZF as the result of a discussion on the internal subreddit. The player must be notified of their ban via in-game PM, reddit PM, or a subreddit post so there is documented evidence of the notification. If the player is found to have violated the ban by entering the land claims area outlined on Txapu.com, they may be pearled. Screenshots should be taken of snitch alerts or visual confirmation that they are in DZF territory.

  • Punishment - players violating a ban will be held for a minimum of __ days and fined a minimum __ diamonds. (Max end time and fines as well?) Players violating this rule are not guaranteed the return of their items they possessed when pearled. Return of items is solely at the discretion of the DZF. If items are not returned, the market value of the items will be applied to any fines accrued. If the player disputes what they had in their inventory, it is their responsibility to provide evidence of what they possessed at the time of their pearling.

  • Review - each player pearled for violating section two will generate an automatic review process by DZF citizens on the internal subreddit within two days of being imprisoned. If it is determined that the person was unfairly pearled, they will be compensated ___ diamonds for their trouble.
