Post Body

EDIT: If you're somehow finding this thread, it's heavily outdated on things like Tier lists and stuff. While a lot of the random tips and explanations are still relevant, please go to the Daily Help Thread for advice about what units to reroll for or who is in meta at the moment.

Hello everyone! I'm Letsdothisbro, sometimes known as LDBT, and I've written a few guides/analyses in the past for other games. I saw that the subreddit was pretty crowded with a lot of common beginner questions and I thought I'd try and help people! I intend for this to be an adaptive post and will edit it if people in the comments have anything to add!

Starting Off - Rerolling

You've finally downloaded the app and gone through the tutorial. If you are going to "reroll" now is the time to do it.

For those not familiar, rerolling is basically creating an account, using the resources to pull units, then discarding the account if you aren't satisfied with the pulls and doing it all over again. Some people consider it an essential part of starting, some consider it an exploit. Its entirely your choice but if you are looking to have 1-3 of the best units straight away it is recommended.

  • If you are rerolling on IoS, click this handy link here Credit to Hanrizhayne for writing it up.

  • If you are rerolling on Android delete this file here in the android game files to reroll. Make sure to close the app first. This does require your device to be rooted or use of an Android Emulator such as Nox. Credit to @Mudboy for this on the Subreddit's Discord.

  • If you are trying to reroll and do NOT have a rooted Android, you can go to the application files and "Clear Data" to reroll. This is a lot slower and requires you to redownload the game over and over.

Now that you know how to reroll, what should you reroll for? @Kriegz on the Subreddit Discord posted a handy tierlist of the 4* bases. You always want at least one 4* rainbow, and ideally one of the top tier ones. Some people also reroll for characters that matter more to them. This is @Kriegz's own opinion on unit power levels but I generally agree overall. Currently, you can do the free summon in the tutorial as well as the Preregistration 11 Summon Tickets as part of your reroll, so if you are going to now is the time. The gatcha rates are 3% for a 4* base, 2% of that is for Adventurers 1% is for Supports.

Saving Your Account

Once you have a rerolled account you are satisfied with, you need to lock that account in and save it. Doing so is simple!

Simply go Settings (The gear on the top right) > Import > Settings. Fill out a password for the account. MAKE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN/SCREENSHOT YOUR PASSWORD AND YOUR IMPORT ID. Those are the proof that this account is saved and is yours, and if you ever need to start on a new device or recover the account you will need these.

What Next?

Congratulations on your account, and welcome to DanMachi Memoria Freeze! Now that you're all set up and ready to go, the game takes care of you reasonably well. Progress on the main story and the Rookie Quests to get a decent amount of progress and some useful materials. There are a lot of things to do and progression is reasonably easy at first, so good luck and have fun! I generally advise maxing your best Assist unit on your best Adventurer instead of trying to do them all at the same level.

FAQ

  • 1) How good is starter Bell? Should I use him? Does he become Argonaut Bell?

He is decent enough, but nothing crazy powerful. He has the advantage of being able to use one of the better pieces of gear you get early game (The Hestia Knife) but when maxed he is notably weaker than a lot of 3/4 base units. BUT, the Rookie Quests revolve around the unit and getting him stronger so he is still worth leveling and ranking up, just not as a #1 priority.

He does NOT become Argonaut Bell by ranking up. Argonaut Bell is a 4* base unit and a different one than the Bell you start with.

  • 2) Ranking Up? Leveling? Whats that?

Leveling in this game comes in two different forms. A Character's 'Level' and their 'Rank'. Level is the LV # at the top, while Rank is the number of Stars they have.

Leveling is raised by being in a party on missions and through the "Lv. Enhance" button from the Character menu. You can get materials to quickly level your units from running the Exilia Quests, which can be found by pressing Quest > Boost > Exilia Quests

Ranking Up comes from completing a character's Status Board. The Status Board menu can be found right above the Lv. Enhance one. The Status Board is a diamond-shaped grid of stat squares. When you unlock each one, you can rank up your character to the next rank. The Status Board is also where you can get a new skill for your characters. To complete a stat square, you must use 'Falna' of the same color. Falna can be found by doing the main quests or by going to Quest > Boost > Falna Quests.

Higher Ranks require higher levels of Falna. Those higher Falna can be found further on into the main questline or by doing harder difficulties of Falna Quests. You can also convert lower Falna into the next level at a rate of 10/1 by going to Shop > Special Exchange > Falna Exchange.

Note: Specific Falna Quests are unlocked each day automatically. To open one that isnt already requires a special currency. ALL Falna Quests are open on Sunday, so it is the best day to farm Falna.

  • 3) I just got Bathroom Princess Aiz but already have Heroic Liaris! Whats the difference? Can I use both?

Different versions of the same character are effectively entirely different units, but with one catch. You can not use two of the same character in your party for PvE. so if you have Heroic Liaris Ais in your party, you can not use Bathroom Princess at the same time.

  • 4) How do I check what missions I need for each Quest?

Pressing the little twin-arrow recycle-ish button will show you the objectives for the quests.

  • 5) How do I set what unit my friends get to use/see?

    Slot 1 of Party 1.

  • 6) What are Assist units for? Are they any good?

Assist units are stat-boosts for your adventurers, but they also have static abilities that help you out! Some give all your units x% Def, some grant immunity to certain statuses, some will lower all the enemies stats, etc. Powerful Assist units, used well, can give you an edge over the enemy and really round out a good team.

  • 7) How do I see what buffs/debuffs my units have when I'm fighting?

Hold down on the unit's icon when in a battle to see all statuses/buffs currently affecting them.

  • 8) Whats more important? Iris or Tickets?

(This is my opinion) Iris is more valuable and should be saved if you have a choice and are intending to be Free to Play (f2p) or just be spending a little. In this game, Tickets have a 30-day shelf-life while Iris does not, so the latter can be saved for units that you really need/want/like. What those are is different for every individual.

  • 9) Its not available in my country! Is there an APK?

Yes! Courtesy of @Mudboy on the Subreddit's Discord

  • 10) You keep mentioning the Subreddit's Discord...?

Yes, there is a Discord Server for this subreddit! People there are super helpful and nice! The link can be found in the sidebar of the subreddit with the rules.

  • 11) What are Bonds? Do they have to be the same version of the character?

Bonds are used to "Limit Break" a unit when they are maximum level at 6* rank. This basically increases their Maximum Level further. It has to be the exact same version of the character as the unit you are trying to limit break, so Bathroom Princess Aiz can not be used to Limit Break Heroic Liaris Aiz, but a Heroic Liaris Aiz bond can.

  • 12) I just got the Hestia Knife but I can't find it?!

You have to exchange what you got in the quest for the actual item. You can do this by going Shop > Special Exchange > Equipment Exchange. This is where you exchange the Green Vambrace and the Pyonkichi also.

  • 13) What do all these stats mean? What do they do?

This is actually explained in game in the settings > help section, but here is how basic stats affect your units turn order, damage, defence, ect

  • 14) What about those Critical things?

There's also a handy chart detailing Criticals, Guard, Penetration, Counter, Weak.

  • 15) What are alarm gems?

Alarm Gems are for the in-game alarm clock function. Its nothing core to gameplay just a bit of fanservice fluff, but it can be found in the settings menu.

  • 16) What are these Potato snacks/crepes/other food

Those items function as an energy refresh so you can keep playing! They can be found in your inventory and refill various amounts of energy.

  • 17) I disagree/don't understand why X is rated so on that tier-list you linked. Are you just memeing me?

Nope. That tier list is compiled by a person named Kriegz (who is also a mod of the subreddit now I believe). He's pretty knowledgeable and I generally (read:almost entirely) agree with his placements. So no, Onsen Lili being so high is not a meme. That being said, I do plan to do a more in-depth look into the 4* units and the tier list in the coming days.

  • 18) Where do I get the Bonds to limit break the starter Bell??

You get them by doing the hard difficulty missions of Bell's quests, starting at 1-1 H.

  • 19) When do I unlock X piece of gear?

I have an ongoing post with special gear locations.

  • 20) Any information about future banners and content?

This post by /u/An-Untaken_Username is a great look into the future banners that Japan already had.

Thanks for reading this far! I hope this helped even a little. As I said earlier, I will be editing this as people bring forth other ideas/tips/FAQs. Hopefully, we can get a comprehensive starter guide going.
