Title.
I've been using a Red Octane Ignition 3.0 pad since 2007ish, I had a 2.0 before it but got the 3 because of the USB support, that was when I used stepmania way more.
Anyways, i took care of it super well but now a days its just old an worn, a sensor was giving me trouble awhile back and trying to repair plastic pads is just a fools errand.
It was still good for a few years but just got worse over time and is just too far gone and wonky to be fun to play on or even get a semi accurate experience to use for working out, sad days but $80 (or what ever the old cost was) for a 10 year pad doesn't feel bad to me.
Anyways, I have seen some new ones on craigslist and ebay, as in, unused, still in the box/unopened, and compared to what it costs for questionable metal pads or way too expensive stuff like StepmaniaX (I know its a good pad but that a months rent lol, lets be real) i'd be ok throwing a tiny bit of cash in for another pad that I trust and have had good experience with but my major questions is my title, would a "brand new"/still in the box foam pad like that still hold up and work just fine even if its just been sitting for 10 years like that or would it wear out faster.
Anyone have any experience with this, my logic leads me to think yes because the way they are made is similar to a regular old game controller, so say, like a PS2 controller, I bought one of those new in the box a couple years ago because my old ones were just too worn and its been 100% fine. I know a big dance pad is a little different but if i take extra good care of it now, theres no reason it shouldn't be fine right?
Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated
EDIT: did research and spoke with the seller for some clarifications and return policies should something go wrong
The pad has been purchased and will be here in a few weeks. Expect a review r/dancedancerevolution
