Per the title, I'm researching Bachelor's of Fine Arts, Dance performance in UK or EU. The goal is to transition to dancing professionally somewhere in the EU, UK, or EU adjacent.
I'm a dance parent that, more or less, knows nothing about dance other than what I've asked about. The dancer has had teachers that don't speak any English whatsoever, (Russian) so, she is perfectly comfortable crossing language barriers.
LONG, DETAILED Explanation:
I'm a parent and asker of questions more interested in developing a whole person rather than a teenage "performer" who is otherwise ill equipped to becoming an adult.
As such, I'm taking a longer view that includes an international equivalent to an American BFA ideally then transitioning to a professional dance career. The dancer has a very strong academic record too. So, there are options.
The dancer has the resume, professional references, and skills to come in at a very high level internationally, but not a performing prodigy. We avoided dance competitions and the like, but her summers have been at well regarded programs and the company teachers always want her to join the pre-professional program. As an example, this happened at Alvin Ailey. It's not the only one. As she grows older, we are moving into learning "competition" and all the emotional skills needed for that.
My read of the dance world is there's a huge gap between the company trainers interest and an actual contract. So, the goal is to aim for the professional track a little later than pure performers, but not in the U.S., and a "fall-back" academic track.
If you've read this far, thank you for your attention.
