Hello all,
I was planning on a bit of a longer explanation with further details, but at this point, I've lost a considerable amount of trust in Reddit. (Although that's not targeted at all the admins, there are a good handful that have been very helpful and diligent with past inquiries and concerns I had brought up, although I'm looking at you Spez.) As Reddit has proven they aren't decent enough to provide a more suitable time-frame to give others at least a striving chance to continue, and instead set the 1 month timeline and price in such a way it would simply force them all out of business as no one can work with the restrictions imposed, that deeply saddens me, and I will no longer use Reddit from my phone.
Going forward I'll only be doing the minimum in what's required to protect my own communities from Spam/Impersonation/Malicious Bots with much less incentive to attempt to help or protect Reddit outside of what's under my own control with my own bots under my subs.
With trust being lost, a lot of that is now Reddit's problem and not mine. The only reason I continue is to protect my own users, but I'm done with anything outside of what I have direct control over, that includes reporting spam/impersonation/malicious accounts outside of any of my subs. I will continue aggressively banning these impersonation/malicious accounts but will no longer assist in reporting them to the Admins as I have a framework in place you help you guys, but have no further commitment in helping Reddit as a whole or other subs that I am not a moderator under.
Please Note (important!):
If you see something that is out of place, report it. We will review and action on them ourselves.
If you see someone impersonating as you, report it and/or send us Modmail. We will ban the account from the sub but it is your responsibility to report it to the Reddit Admins under https://www.reddit.com/report/ We as moderators will no longer be assisting with this step as it is not our problem, and you will need to report the offending account yourself with any evidence you already have.
If you see spam that our bots don't catch, Report it and we will strengthen our bots detection's in order to hopefully catch stuff going forward. We will not be reporting the spam to Reddit, but will work on unifying and strengthening our bots rules across all of our subs to further handle it going forward. Spammers are constantly evolving so it's an uphill battle.
If you see or are part of Harassment or Abuse, Report it and/or send us Modmail. We will punish and/or restrict said account if we see evidence of this, but again you will need to file a report directly with Reddit yourself if it's happening outside any of our subs, which we will no longer be assisting with. https://www.reddit.com/report/
If I see anything else that I'm missing that isn't covered in this advisory, I will edit this message but will leave it stickied for some time to ensure everyone reads this.
