To all my fellow working dads, do any of you feel like your child is sort of growing up without you?
I work long hours and often on the night shift, so I can easily spend two weeks out of every month seeing my boy for about an hour each day. He's coming up to three years old and honestly? So many of his firsts have been whilst I was at work. His first word, first steps, first picnic, first laugh, all without me there to see it. I feel like every time I see him he has flourished just a little more and it hurts me sometimes knowing his grandparents see him just as much, if not more than me and my wife (we both work full time).
Do any of you feel the same? I mean I know I am a pretty banging parent when I'm with him, and he's always so happy to see me, its just painful not being there for him as much as I'd like to be.
Thats why we splitbour maternitybleave 50/50. 😊 She took the first 6 months, and then I'm home with the child 6 months. So I will be around every moment between her 6 month and 1 year.
