Housing register for those receiving PIP/UC
Post Body

Just curious how long it took for you to get a suitable property? Admittedly I haven't been on the register long ~6 months but I have a guaranteed job once I do get rehoused, my employer has promised to arrange a home working role but in my current studio flat there is no room for a workstation. It would save the DWP paying me UC if I could get a ground floor flat or bungalow!

I'm in Dorset and been placed on the 'gold' banding due to my disability, but every week there are only 1-3 ground floor flats if any and over 500 people bidding on each one. Very frustrating - I don't feel more deserving than others at all, but am on the 4th week of there being absolutely no properties in the whole of the county now and my landlord has made it clear that he is not happy with not knowing how long I'll be here. I now get enhanced mobility rate PIP and standard rate daily living but money is going to be extremely tight before long and I'm desperate to get back to the job I love.

Side question, if I explained the whole work/housing situation at my work capability assessment tomorrow would that be a good or bad idea? I've looked at private rents and there's nothing suitable as I would need adaptations like a wetroom and I wouldn't be able to save up for moving/temporary storage/deposit twice.
