I've just applied for Universal Credit after years of not knowing I could. I also have ADHD and much debt. Need advice

First of all, I'm not a benefits abuser and haven't taken benefits since some income support many years ago.

My ADHD has put me into thousands of £s of debt. I am self-employed and can prove that I am "gainfully self-employed". The problem is that I get paid irregularly. Some months it could be £1500 , and others about £100, due to my line of work.

Questions:

1.Can I apply for a grant for my ADHD, and what kind of benefits can I get for it? I can still work, but I can't handle bring around too many people. I am medicated, but it mostly deals with motivation. I want to work and be a productive citizen.

  1. This is the first time that I have claimed Universal Credit, but I've been self-employed for years. I can prove to them, as I said, that I am "gainfully self-employed". If they accept me as such, am I entitled to the 12-month start-up period?

  2. How soon might I get an advance, given that I will probably have to go for a self-employment interview?
