Help adult with DSPD
Post Body

Hi, I thank you all for this thread existing to begin. For years I thought I was a lazy POS (bc that's what my family and friends have called me or made me feel), and so now that I have a name and definition for this, I need help!!

What do you guys use to get up in the mornings? I have a special alarm that will ring at 80% volume every 2 minutes until I wake up, stay awake, then tell it to shush (AMdroid for androids if anyone is curious), I have even put it on the setting where you have to do math, walk away from your wifi signal, take a photo, scan a barcode.....no matter what I try it never works. I'm such a heavy sleeper (because of DSPD or in general idk) that I will sleep through these alarms even if they make me do things. I have one on my fitbit that won't turn off until I take 50 steps or more. Still sleep through it. My doctor keeps saying "oh just take your Adderall when your first alarm goes off, and that'll help wake you up all the way!" But I can't wake up enough to do that 😩

Part 2: are there doctors who specialize in this??? I would love the names of doctors you guys use, because I would really love to get a solution going.

Genuinely, I sobbed when I read another reddit post talking about DSPD. I have felt like a disgusting human for years because of this disorder. My parents yell at me, my partner makes jokes about it, my friends at sleepovers HATED me for it, and thanks to my anxiety/depression I've been hard on myself about this too. This has made my weight feel a little lighter ❤❤❤ we are in this together y'all.
