DSPD(?) + anxiety + Zoom classes at 9am = disaster.
Post Body

Hello! I just stumbled upon this subreddit 10 or so minutes ago and I already feel like it's shockingly relatable.

I'm a current senior in high school, 16F if it really matters. Ever since I was around 12, I've shown possible signs of DSPD (may be N24? About a year or so ago I started to fall asleep later, but my sleep schedule has been stable for a few months now.) It's impossible for me to force myself to fall asleep at a "normal" time, but my mother doesn't believe me. Instead, she constantly makes comments about "sleeping when the rest of the world does" and things like that. I've lately been stuck with getting 2-4 hours of sleep most nights (in a perfect world, I would usually fall asleep around 6-7 am, but that will probably change) because I have online classes at 9 sharp. My classes last until 1:30, afterwards I try to go back to sleep. I can't sleep with an alarm on, or even with my phone's sound on at all. I'm extremely anxious about being rudely awakened because it often leaves me frightened and exhausted. I end up waking up with missed calls from my mom and texts asking if I'm awake. The fact that my classes start at 9am have taken a serious toll on me. In the morning, it's difficult to focus and I often find myself on the verge of falling asleep again. However, I usually do slightly better in the afternoon. I have no clue what to do. Should I try to find a sleep specialist?
