Used bike considerations
Post Body

Looking at a couple of used bikes in my area. One is a 2001 400S with under 7k miles, pretty stock, well taken care of. The second is a 2014 400SM with ~16k miles, more upgrades like a bigger tank, 21"F/18"R dirt tires etc, also well taken care of but ridden more.

One friend says go for fewer miles on the engine to stay out of major projects as I'm getting into the sport. Another friend emphasizes the better suspension available on the SM. Thoughts appreciated.
