I've been hype for WoW classic and it got me thinking about my old Dota days as well (I was in a DOTA clan way back in the day). I only ever played ROC DOTA, I think the last supported / popular version there was 3.07 or something in that range from memory.
Anyway, I fired up the old WC3 disk and hit Battle.net and got stuck in an update loop that took a while to figure out, but essentially they added a new launcher that forces the game to open as The Frozen Throne. You can no longer launch Battle.net from ROC, you can only do it from TFT.
Taking a quick peek at custom games it looks like all DOTA's being hosted are TFT specific versions.
So is there any way possible to play the old classic ROC DOTA? If there is not this greatly saddens me.
Edit: In case anyone ends up here from google at some point - it doesn't look like there's any way to play DOTA classic 3.76c any longer unless someone converts it to a TFT .w3x format. The closest we have right now is a TFT Danite's Hell MM where you can set the mode to -classic and it's pretty close to the original ROC DOTA. Anyway, that's how I was able to get my classic ROC dota fix in the last couple days.
