Registration and Grace Period

Alright so, I moved out of state and left my car in another state with my father. The insurance is up-to-date for 6 months, however my tags and registration expired while I was gone. I'm currently moving back to Maryland where I left the car and will be driving to North Carolina where the car is registered.
Do I have any options regarding getting a extended grace period for 15 days or so to get back to North Carolina and then get it inspected and registered?
