Moving cross country, registration, inspections, titles, residency. Does any of this matter?
Post Body

First I want to take the time to thank anybody that can help me with my situation. I try to do my own research but the more research I do the more confused I get.

I am looking to move cross-country to Arizona for a contract job, no idea how long I'll stay. Could be 3 months or 3 years. I have a license on the east coast and can't establish residency in AZ for 12 months obviously. What is the process for registering the car properly, taxes, inspections And insurance etc?

My tags are due in March. how do inspections work if I'm technically living out of state and my car is registered in the same state as much license? Do I have to be in my home state to be able to do the inspection. I assume I have to get my inspection done here but can't obviously be there for it because its more than 1 month out.

Do I have to get a new lisence in AZ even if I'm not a resident? Or do I keep my current lisence for now? And I'm worried if my permanent address shows then they will expect the inspections to be done here

What is the best way to go about doing this? Should I ship my current car down there or buy something in-state with an out of state license? There has to be an easier way for a way to do this but I am absolutely confused if anybody has experience or a checklist of things I should do when I move that would be appreciated

Alternatively, does anybody have any suggestions for long term car rentals? Do I need specific insurance etc?
