I know I need to provide documents like my birth certificate and social security card. When my appointment comes, do they keep the documents for a while, or do I get them back the same day?
I ask because I know for a passport, they take your birth certificate and mail it back to you once it is processed. I just don't know how I feel about anyone keeping my important documents like that for long periods of time.
