DMT smoking question

Ok today I tried to smoke DMT for the first time and I had some issues. I bought a Myster Hamr to cold start with and the setup was perfect. I loaded 40 mg and lit it. It started to melt, and I started to inhale. I think I started to inhale too early, as it never got to the stage of bubbling. So, I guess that’s my question, am I supposed to get it bubbling before I inhale? I def got a head rush, but didn’t get visuals or anything. I know that I didn’t inhale 40 mg. After reading about people’s trips I think I only got about 10 mg. Can some of you guys please explain it?
