So I wanna have an exciting encounter that will blow my party away.
Currently the party is level 10 and consists of
Shifter Swifstride Echo Knight Fighter
Lightfoot Halfling Hexblade Warlock (soon taking levels in fighter)
Dhampir Telekinetic Anomaly https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/p3di74/the_anomaly_a_new_class_that_brings_the/
Warforged Eloquence Bard (soon to be Half Orc Vengeance Paladin)
Human Battlesmith Artificer 3/Way of the Open Hand Monk 7
Magic items in their possession that can be used in battle
Bard: Armour that allows flight, cuff token that spawns bramble to entangle, fire resistance cloak, cummerbund that lowers initiative by 5 but at the start of combat they gain a huge amount of temp hp
Fighter: 2 Longsword for lycan slaying, armour and shield that boosts their AC to 24, and the shield has 5 charges each which increase their AC by 1 slowing movement by 5ft, and cold resistance. But when they’re hit with a crit, ice storm is cast at level 4 cantered on them.
Warlock: Sword that deals extra cold damage for a minute, and when hit with an attack the creature must make a dc 15 dex save or become wet, being wet means each time they first move on a turn or dash they make another dex save or fall prone.
Artifonk: Gauntlets that after 6 consecutive hits active a roll on the wild magic surge table.
Average AC 18
Average bonus to hit 10
Average HP 100
So that’s all the background info, sorry if it’s too much or too little.
But for the actual fight I want them to go up against 3 ancient white dragons simultaneously. I already plan on giving them a ring of warmth very soon, and when they’re given this quest they’ll be given a ring of cold resistance to turn the odds a little bit in their favour.
But idk what more I can do to make sure it’s a fair fight. For starters Id like this fight to happen around level 16 but I’m impatient and want it sooner lmao but is that gonna be enough? Another balance aspect I was thinking is that every now and then the dragons will either spend their multi attack or legendary actions to attack each other as is their food, they found it first. But other than that I don’t see how else I could help them. I don’t just wanna throw in an NPC who knows the ins and outs of everything bc that just feels cheap. Pls help tysm
