Barbarian Thrown Weapon Raging

I have a player building their new character based on King Dedede, and he’s going Fighter/Barbarian. He has yet to choose his fighting style, stuck between Thrown Weapon Fighting and Defense. He wants to use handaxes to emulate his Gordos. While RAW I know you can’t add Rage damage to thrown weapons, is it really game breaking to house rule that he could?
