Interesting Door Puzzle

So im running a one shot in the Faewild. Long story short I need a decently tricky door puzzle for a cold iron door in the middle of a grove. My first thought was turning the handle in the same way of a lock with symbols carved around the door handle but how do I drop the hints without blantky telling them or getting them stuck on so little details?
