[[If you are part of Mad Town Gaming in the "Winter's Fruit" campaign, do NOT read ahead.]]
Good evening everyone,
Currently I am DMing a 5e campaign that started in Wildemount and, through player misadventure, ended up in a homebrew setting of mine called Vrosheim, a Nordic-inspired realm where winter has been growing ever longer, and the players are tasked with ending a fey curse on the realm. This is a tie-in with my main plot of the campaign, one which involves a plot from the Feywild spilling over into Wildemount during the Kryn/Dwendalian conflict [[I am doing an alternate storyline where the M9 are NOT part of the story, so the conflict has grown and the Luxon Beacon is still being searched for]].
Anyway, my plan for the BBEG of the campaign is the Prince of Frost aka. "Winter Prince" in my campaign, who has been searching for an artifact powerful enough for him to plunge larger realms into winter and become strong enough to claim vengeance against the Raven Queen, with the intention of reaching through time to retrieve Sharaea and drag her back to be his once more. With his agents bringing him knowledge of the Luxon Beacon, he seeks it out for it's reported abilities with souls, and he seeks out as much knowledge as he can of Dunamancy to further his obsessive quest.
My question is this: Once I get the party back to Wildemount, would it make more sense to have them stumble across the Luxon Beacon and be pursued by the powers that seek it, or for an ambassador of the Raven Queen/Summer Fey to reach out to them for aid to recover it? Effectively I'm looking for a effective method by which to hook them into the main story.
Thank you in advance for your time and advice.
