Hey all!
So I've been DMing for a long time on discord, and I love certain aspects of online play. But there is one that I cannot for the life of me seem to get past. I love love love music and ambience during my games, and in IRL games I switch between tracks really frequently and quickly. I love to underscore emotional moments and dramatic tensions so that the music or the ambience match.
On to my problem - I've been using mostly Groovy bot for music in Discord, which works well for what it's designed for - playing pre-planned music playlists. But damn is it difficult and game-halting to switch between tracks so slowly during the game. It's always a matter of 30 seconds to a minute of me copying and pasting the link to a youtube video, typing in "-play", copying the link, hitting enter, (usually I can do this in one shot) and thennnnn having to do -skip to skip the current song to go to the next. And then it just becomes this slog of skipping the right amount of tracks and all this stuff.
I was wondering if anyone knew a way where I could just stream my pc audio to discord without a crazy IT project, or if there was a bot that just straight up played a song automatically, or if there is a specific bot that works really well with playing music during Dnd sessions.
I feel like I'm not very experienced with Discord bots in general, and I know there are some functionalities like "jump" and things which might be able to help. But I'm just curious what other people do who like to switch music up often in games. It's been something that I've been struggling with since the beginning of the pandemic.
Thank you so much for reading this, I really appreciate any help!
