I’m getting ready to start a game introducing some new players. Starting a level one and running Lost Mines of Phandelver. The party will consist of a rogue (which will go arcane trickster later), paladin (oath undecided), and druid (circle undecided). I’m trying to decide which sidekick would be most beneficial (using the rules in Tasha’s for sidekicks). It’s tough because I don’t know for sure what niches they’ll fill because I’ve not played with these players before. I don’t know how much healing the druid will want to do so I’d considered a healer spellcaster to also buff the party but I don’t want to confuse them too much with the d4s from bless. I’ve leaned toward warrior to for simplicity so I don’t do too much stuff they can’t and to bolster the paladin. The other two spellcasters have crosses my mind for various reasons as well. Basically the only one I haven’t entertained is the expert. So, looking for some thoughtful advice and suggestions from the other DMs here. Thoughts?
