Deals with Devils

So, level 4 party have found their way to the plane of Stygia in the nine hell's.
Got there by following an enemy mage who had created a 'planar wormhole' from the material plane. Only thing is the mage was swiftly deaded and the worm hole has collapsed.
What way home can y'all think of? Also I'm trying to come up with a non-combat encounter like maybe a travelling devil merchant making dodgy deals. But, unsure what creature to use?
