I have three new players, and they are getting overwhelmed at the possibilities, usually not choosing anything in the end and just following after my 4th, more experienced player. How do I help them overcome this?

Post Body

My upcoming campaign will be with a party of 4 players. One pretty experienced, but the other 3 quite new. In the few "tutorial" sessions we've had, I noticed a growing trend of my experienced player suggesting a plan of action, and the rest rolling with it quickly. She's used to being in larger groups (about 6 to 7 players, all quite experienced), where she would usually throw her plan out into the suggestion pile along with the rest. Its different now though, since my 3 newer players are very inexperienced and unconfident in their D&D capabilities.

I talked to them about this, and they confessed that they find it hard to make choices. As opposed to other games, whether digital or physical, the possibilities in D&D are nearly endless, and this is overwhelming them. How can I best help them overcome this? I also talked to my more experienced player about it and she is very eager to help me help the others.

D&D is about everyone having fun, and I want to help my players achieve this in the best possible way. After all, we play for fun in the end.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Not only on this topic, but also more general help for helping new players ease themselves into the swimming pool that is D&D. Thank you!
