So I've been thinking lately about alignment and how it relates to helping players make interesting characters. I like the position Matt Colville takes on alignment - namely, that alignment is less important than beliefs that inform actions (as seen in this video).
With that in mind, what are your thoughts on providing a questionnaire to your players as a way to "seed" thoughts about motiviation? It would be optional set of questions, and I'd encourage them to pick a few to answer to help flesh out their character. Some examples:
In all my actions, my goal is to ______
I'm always willing to ______
I could never forgive someone who _______
I'm willing to make an exception to my principles for ______
I won't do ______ unless I'm getting paid.
I say I believe ______, but that's just lip service.
The greatest act someone can do is to ______
I would do anything for ______ but I won't do ______
Thoughts? Suggestions for additional questions?
