Making a campaign from lit RPGs

I need advice on how to make my campaign from the lit RPG books I've been reading. I'm not entirely sure how to do the leveling system. would it just be easier to keep the normal leveling system? If you have read any of these let RPGs I would greatly appreciate any advice you could give me I do have the system in my campaign and gods that sponsor everything.
