I'm running a halloween one shot. I have 7 level 5 players. The idea of the one shot is they are hired to go to a house to defeat a evil spirit that terrorizes the town every year. The BBEG is a rip of a "pumpkin king" type thing. He is going to be locked in a room with 3 runes locking the door. Each one being deactivated by completing a challenge. I'm just having issues with what I want the challenges to be. So far I have an idea of the party fighting scarecrows but I also want to keep it all contained in the house. Like a evil dead kind of thing. Thanks for your recs. I'll keep them all in mind.
