I'm the guy who received the free controller a few months back. First gig coming up this Friday, and I need a little advice.
Post Body

Moste Excellente Jockeyes Of The Diske,

I managed to land a gig (unpaid) playing a birthday party at a friend's house this coming Friday. I've been practicing my practice playlist in my room /- once a day, and I think I can get through it without much trouble, problem is that this party is supposed to be something like 8 hours long and my playlist is only 1:20:00ish. From what I understand, the majority of the craft is reading the crowd and I don't think just performing an 8 hour premade is the best way to do that.

My questions:

1) How do you suggest going about on-the-fly/seat-of-your-pants djing?

2) What are the top rookie mistakes (in your opinion) I should avoid, and how can I avoid them?

3) How can I best improve my DJing in the next 5 days? (The only take of my set I've managed to record can be downloaded here. It's about 3 weeks old FWIW). Any Rocky-esque tips?

4) I kind of wanted to stream video of the performance so y'all could chime in if you wanted to. How does one go about doing that on a budget?

Thank you all in advance!
