I’ve been curious to know how other DJs prepare for sets. I dj techno and have played pre-planned sets before where you have all the tracks you want to play lined up in order ready to go. This is nice because you just have to worry about mixing and effects but it leaves less room for improvisation and creativity. I’ve also played sets where I just go with the flow and get into a rhythm. This feels more organic and you can really be involved with reading the crowd.
How do big djs do it and would love to know everyone else’s method?
