Some DJs - "99% of the crowd don't care about the gear you use" "Nobody cares about how you mix" "The crowd doesn't pay attention to your transitions"
Me - Stereotyping the audiences you play for because you're not motivated enough to get more creative and go beyond the usual, will ensure that you NEVER know how much further the crowd is willing to go. Never forget that sometimes, you're the one out there on the dance floor. Do you want the DJ on duty to assume the same of you? Unless you're willing to push the boundaries and not just rely on what's familiar and "safe", it really won't matter because everything (other than the room you're dancing in) will be the same. And that will kill your scene.
