We bought our house 3 years ago and since then I have had multiple setups in multiple rooms. Last summer we finally found the room that worked best as our 'office'. I live in the West Kootenays, BC and work in the forestry industry. We acquired the fir plants by both finding the wood on our own and from local mills, had them milled by a friend with an Alaskan mill. Cut, sanded, and varnished in my shop, as well as made the monitor shelves. Only thing bought from a store was the wall brackets and screws. The record player doesn't have a pitch fader so it simply just plays records (but it is channeled through channel 3 on the ddj 1000). Channel 4 is phone/laptop/Maschine. Wii and Xbox (not in picture) are also set up to play on the tv with the audio going through the monitors/sub which makes for some pretty awesome gaming! If/when I ever get some turntables or cdj's I guess I will have to remake my shelves to accommodate, but I enjoyed making this so much I don't mind. The joys of reminding myself that as a homeowner I can do whatever I want without worry is still so new to me, so I am very proud of what I have done - it's hard to see in this photo, but my cord management could use a little bit of work still.
It's very nice to be able to play music while my wife works at the desk behind me, or friends in the living room (behind where the photos were taken) can listen and/or dance while mixing. When I (attempt) to produce I have to stand, but we sit too much in life so I think it's a good thing. Anyways - I'm quite proud of how things have come from mixing at the dining room table with iphone earbuds for beat matching and old computer speakers for audio out. Now to save for a turntable and a nexus cdj.
