I've moved into my first flat (apartment) and I have a few ideas but I have no idea where to start, here's what I'm thinking

-I want to be able to know someone is ringing my doorbell if I have headphones on, I was thinking somehow connecting the door bell thing to my server/NAS that I'm eventually building, either that or some form of visual cue.

-buy a bundle of RGB strips, line then across the top and bottom of all the walls (it's a small flat) connecting them to my server/NAS through a series of connectors, I would like to be able to control the colour of a certain area's RGB, I'm thinking of creating a program that will allow me to do this (if its possible at all), plus, I am aware that RGB light bulbs exist because I already have one which gave the the idea.

-I was thinking of putting a webcam over the peephole also connected to my server so that if it rings I can see who it is without opening the door

Any advice?
